OUTRAGE OF PUDDLE SPLASHER JASON COMES TO YEOVIL COURT!

By Richard Smith

A MOTORIST was fined for splashing two workmen as he drove through a puddle at 15mph.
IT consultant Jason Evans, 34, was tailed by police for two miles before being booked.
He said yesterday after being hit with a £150 penalty and three points on his licence: "It's unbelievable this ever came to court.

"It was an accident. I was only in second gear. I couldn't have done anything different unless I'd pushed the car through the puddle.

"I didn't even notice what I'd done until I saw a man in my mirror raising his fist. I wanted to stop but was intimidated by the police car behind me."

The workmen were clearing leaves from a ditch in Charlton Mackrell, Somerset, when Evans splashed past.

Prosecutor Iyan Stephens told Yeovil magistrates: "The water was about two inches deep. Evans drove through at such speed one of the workmen's jeans was soaked."

The incident was seen by a police patrol officer. Evans, of Yeovil - who said he drove 40,000 miles a year and had a clean licence - admitted inconsiderate driving.

Police said: "All motorists have a duty to show consideration for other road users and pedestrians."

No spashing now!
