Oops There's been a cock-up in the listings

On April 28th according to our listings, the Troggs will be playing at the Half Moon in Stoke sub Hamdon.

What it should read is the Trolls....

We didn't pick up the error before print...sorry.

The Troggs are actually still playing live; you can check out their website here
http://www.my-generation.org.uk/Troggs/

As far as we know the Trolls (at the moment) don't have a web site.

It's gonna get hot
A panel of scientists warn today that some areas of Europe will be virtually uninhabitable within 100 years as global temperatures may raise between 1.8 degrees C and 6.3 degrees C.

What that means for us might be many more water shortages and a rise in sea levels of around 60cm (2ft in old money). That will make the prospect of living on the Somerset Levels a good deal more difficult with far more flooding and potentially some areas cut off completely, possibly as it would have been in the dark ages before the area was drained.

Best of all? It's all our fault for pushing too much CO2 and methane into the atmosphere. Something to think about the next time you fill the car with petrol!

A Poem For January From Ann

We had this ditty from Ann Stuart, the Landlady of the Half Moon in Stoke sub Hamdon. Enjoy!

A Poem for January

'Twas the month after Christmas and all through the house Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.

The stuffing I'd nibbled, the turkey I'd taste The yummies I'd eaten gone straight to my waist.

The wine and the mince pies, The bread and the cheese

I should have just said, "No thank you, please."

So as I dressed myself in my boyfriend's old shirt, I couldn't believe my bottom and belly - the girth!

I said to myself, as only I can, "You can't spend the year disguised as a man!"

So away with the last of the sour-cream dip, Get rid of the fruitcake, every cracker and chip.

Every last bit of food that I like must be banished 'Til all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won't have a cookie, not even a lick.

Instead I'll chew on a long celery stick.

I won't have Irish coffees, or chocolates, or pie, I'll munch on a carrot and quietly I'll cry:

"I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore- But isn't that what January's for?"

Unable to giggle, no longer a riot,

Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!
