Third Space begins its South Somerset tour of “Born to Run” at Sexey's School on Tuesday 15th November. This new play specifically made for village halls and untraditional venues, from one of our brightest playwrights, is a story about love, hopes for the future, of when to stay and when to let go.

Set on Hayling Island where Pete and Louisa run a seafront cafĂ©. In between Louisa teaches baton techniques to the juniors of the ‘Hilight Twirlstars’ while Pete tries to get his beloved narrow gauge railway up and running. When one Christmas eve Joe, Pete’s long forgotten brother, returns from 15 years traveling on route 66…..

Gavin Stride, the director of the production, commented that ‘When Amanda and I first spoke about creating a new play we talked about the pressures and choices particularly facing young people outside a major city- the pull of the city, the sense of belonging, the perception of the country. We where also drawn to exploring communities at the edges of the country. Which led us to Hayling, and to the decisions we make in our lives.’

Born to Run is in many ways an old fashioned play with three people, in one place, with a story to tell, a charming, gentle 90-mminute play suitable for everyone over 10 years old.

Have fun!
